Things to do nearby
Staying a while? Rhode Island is known for its amazing beaches, and Providence in particular has a great food and arts scene! Here are some of our personal favorite spots.
WaterFire (Providence)
Downtown Providence lights up the river on select Saturday nights. The public walks along the riverfront to enjoy music, vendors, and the beautiful display. Very pretty!
Friskie Fries (Providence)
Casual french fry joint that serves specialty fries in a chinese takeout container. It looks unassuming, but don't be fooled! I recommend the chili cheese fries, buffalo chicken fries, or poutine.
Iggy's Chowder House/Oakland Beach (Warwick)
Clam cakes are a staple of Rhode Island, and Iggy's has some of the best. Split a dozen, grab a cup of classic New England white chowder, and enjoy right on Oakland Beach.
Beavertail Lighthouse & State Park (Jamestown)
Rhode Island is known for its lighthouses, and this one is my favorite. It's about a 45-minute drive from Providence, making for a great day trip. The historic section of Jamestown is also nearby.
